Please tell me about your move to the Small Pond life.

In February 2010, my husband Milé and I, artists and life-long city dwellers, moved to an old farm house in the country to found Small Pond Arts and begin a new life. Our dream, years in the making, was to open an art centre, artist residency and art gallery. We wanted a place to make and exhibit all sorts of visual and performing arts, as well as hosting artists from near and far who need some time and space to work on projects.

We were too busy when we first moved to experience much culture shock – it is only over time that you realize all the differences of country living. Sure we miss sushi and access to big-city culture, but we love our new life so completely it is hardly a sacrifice. We feel that we are living the life we were meant for. Running our own business is a lot of hard work but the rewards are so great. Continue reading
