Enjoying the sun and the breeze at the most easterly point of North America.
I like choosing what happens in it. I get to enjoy change as a daily result of working as an Actor (CAEA, ACTRA) and freelancing as an American Sign Language/English Interpreter (AVLIC).
Because of my personal habit of paring down the clutter in my professional and personal life, it does not surprise those around me that I am back in school and training to become a Life Coach!
A self described “goalminder”, I achieve satisfaction by kicking people in the ass if they want it. Perhaps it would be more polite to say that I enjoy accompanying people through their daily lives as they accomplish something.
Coaching is not counselling. The people I work with are confident about where they want to go but they get overwhelmed with the possibilities. Through a series of questions (I call this “Jo Bennett’s beam of light”) a client creates a menu of choices and places them in different bowls. They chew one bite at a time until the dishes are empty. I don’t tell them what to do or how but I hold them accountable for their actions and in return they have a safe place to express themselves in a positive environment.
This blog is about how I process the contents of my own goal bowl!
